Why Is My Salt Cell Not Producing Enough Chlorine?

A low chlorine test does not automatically mean the salt cell is bad. 1. Confirm that chlorine is actually low

5. Check the output setting
A generator set to a low percentage may simply be producing less chlorine than the pool currently needs. Output percentage and pump runtime work together, so changing one changes total daily production.
6. Consider chlorine demand
Pentair lists rain, high swimmer load, environmental contamination, dirty or scaled cell blades, and cyanuric-acid conditions among causes of low or no free chlorine. Algae or heavy organic contamination can consume chlorine faster than a normally operating cell replaces it.
7. Inspect and clean only when indicated
